Residence Permit Notification or Residence Notification: What Is It?

The annual residence permit notification is the process of submitting documents to the Migration Services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs each year to notify authorities of one’s residence in Russia and to demonstrate the financial means by which a foreign citizen is supporting their stay in the Russian Federation. The process itself is very similar to the annual notification for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP).

During the 13th and 14th months of the calendar year, after receiving a residence permit, a foreign national is required to notify the Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of their residence in Russia at their place of registration at the district office of the Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Penalties and Fines for Late Submission of Residence Permit (PRP) Notifications.

Just as with late submissions of temporary residence permit (TRP) notifications, the law imposes strict penalties on foreign nationals for late submission of residence permit (PRP) notifications. If two consecutive notifications are not submitted, the residence permit will be automatically revoked.

Documents required for notification of a residence permit in the Russian Federation.

The main document for submitting the annual residence permit notification is the 2 NDFL individual income certificate, which reflects the salary of the foreign citizen, which must be at least equal to the official subsistence minimum. If such a certificate is not available, the foreign citizen must provide a certificate of paid taxes, which also shows an amount corresponding to at least the subsistence minimum multiplied by 12 months. All this data is recorded in the system, and at the time of submitting documents for the extension of a residence permit or for obtaining Russian citizenship, the inspector will see whether your notifications have been submitted or not.
